Wee Kiat - 1st May 2016
His name is Wee Kiat and he prefers to be called Gatt (pun intended, it seems). He joined us in June 2010 as a delivery driver after some years as a bus driver. He has some nice spooky stories he gathered during his several years there! If you happen to see him, ask him to relate them to you!
You probably see Alan and Albert more often as both of them do home deliveries and Gatt delivers only to our wholesale customers. A typical day for Gatt starts at 9am at Pandan Loop and ends at about 6pm. He then knocks off from wherever he is after the last delivery for the day.
He then drives home to Bukit Panjang for dinner with his family. At home waiting for him are his mom, his wife, a son who is slightly more than 2 years old and two younger sisters. Gatt has three other siblings who have also moved to Singapore from Johor Baru.
Though Gatt’s mum cooks every day, he takes his dinner daily at his in-law’s place that is a stone’s throw away from his home. He goes to his in-law’s place twice daily, once in the morning to leave his son and once in the evening to fetch his son home.
After all the driving, Gatt looks forward to a game of basketball every Wednesday. Apart from that, he also enjoys going to popular food establishments. You can be sure that Gatt doesn’t need any food reviews, he knows which are the popular ones from the number of deliveries he has to make to a particular establishment!
