Going out for breakfast on Sundays seems to be a ritual that both my kids and I enjoy. Sometimes I go to my bistro and sometimes, like last week, I venture out to try new places. Pattisez is the brand behind the original Freakshakes that sent Australians into a frenzy when it opened. The brand has opened up their second outlet in Asia at the new Raffles Holland V building. Full length glass walls give this place a bright and refreshing feel while the extensive use of wood still keeps it homely. This place serves all day breakfast including mains and burgers.
Pig’d - 12 hour braised pulled pork, bacon jam, spinach, poached eggs with hollandaise sauce

Bacon jam seems to feature quite widely on their breakfast menu so I decided to try it by ordering Pig’d. This dish came with 12 hour braised pulled pork, bacon jam, spinach, poached eggs with hollandaise sauce and all atop sourdough bread. The pulled pork was tender and thankfully not to dry. I could not taste much of the bacon jam when I ate the pork, eggs and bread in one mouthful. Thankfully I ordered bacon jam wantons! These babies were served with rosemary crème fraiche and were a hit with my kids as they were very crispy. You could taste the bacon jam much better in the wantons and the sweet savoury flavour is so good. Vying off track for a second, I totally dig bacon and I’m so glad that our Huber’s bacon is minimally processed and I have no issues feeding it to my kids.

My wife opted for a much healthier option of herbed mushrooms and smashed avocado which was served with poached eggs, marinated housemade feta, smoked romesco and crusty sourdough. The mushrooms were well browned with a good amount of thyme flavour. The romesco sauce went well with the mushrooms and my only complaint was there was not enough of it.
The babycino my kids got was one of the fanciest ones I have seen with toasted marshmellows served on the side. Unfortunately we were there for breakfast and I couldn’t bring myself to have a freakshake that early in the morning. I will certainly be back for that when I am next in the area.
