Normal plastics can take decades and even 1,000 years to break down. Imagine the vast majority of the plastic produced since the material's invention about 150 years ago have not degraded yet! If not incinerated or recycled, plastic waste may continue sitting in landfills and compost piles - or as litter on land and sea - for the next couple of or even centuries.
In a bid to reduce the burden of persistent plastic waste in the environment, Huber's Butchery has switched to bio-degradable plastic bags - bags that will start to degrade in about 18 months.
Although these bags costs more than the regular plastic bags, we have absorbed this higher expense but we hope you do your part by re-using them as much as possible!
Alternatively, you may also purchase a non-woven shopping bag or a cooler bag from Huber's Butchery!
