Lan Fang, our shy but sweet packer at the factory moved to
Singapore with her Singaporean husband in 2002. They met each other through a
matchmaking session planned by her cousin in her hometown, Fujian, China. Lan
Fang now stays in Jurong with her husband and her 14-year-old son.
Before joining Huber’s, she was a packer at Sheng Shiong, a
childcare teacher, and a cleaning lady, but all these jobs did not last long. In
2012, she went to a career fair organised by NTUC and that was when she got to
know Huber’s. When she came to Huber’s, she was amazed and shocked by the
conducive working environment in the factory. The factory is clean, safe and
the staff are friendly and helpful. It was right there and then, Lan Fang made
up her mind to stay at Huber’s for a long time.

Lan Fang loves to participate in activities organised by her
community centre with her friends. Every week, the community centre will have
different activities like excursions, marathons, cooking classes, pot luck
dinners and many more. Although Lan Fang is very soft-spoken and shy, she does
not mind making new friends. she enjoys hanging out with her best
friend and they like to go shopping together.
Lan Fang’s favourite food is ‘Guo Bian’. It is a dish where rice flour is mixed with water into a
medium-thick batter and poured around the sides of a hot wok. When the batter
is cooked, it can be scrapped off to eat with seafood soup. She said that till
now, no one can beat her mother’s ‘Guo
Bian’. She feels homesick just thinking about her mother’s
cooking on some days. Therefore, Lan Fang will try
to visit her parents in Fujian with her family during the school holidays every
year.
