Jian Sheng - 31st May 2018
The day he left his hometown,
Henan, in China, Jian Sheng vowed he will work hard to pursue his dream of owning his own business. He moved from one city to another in
China, working at various factories and companies and hasn’t looked back since.
In 2014, Jian Sheng challenged himself further- he relocated to Singapore with the help of an employment agency.

Before moving to Singapore,
Jian Sheng was worried that he might not be able to cope with the fast paced lifestyle
here as he grew up in a small village. The first few months was tough for him as he wasn't used to the hustle and bustle in Singapore but he found himself slowly settling in. Jian Sheng hates
the bitter winter in China, therefore his favourite thing about Singapore, besides the food, is the weather!
Jian Sheng works from 7am
to 5pm daily. His main job in the factory at Pandan Loop is to produce burger patties. Sometimes, he also helps the other butchers out when they
need an extra pair of hands. He is really happy with what he’s doing now at Huber’s, and is planning to stay on for another few more years.
Jian Sheng currently rents
a place just a stone throw away from the factory. Therefore, he hangs out a
lot with our colleagues who stay in the same area. But there are
times when he prefers to spend his time alone. Picking up some
fantasy novels from a bookstore, he then spends his entire day reading the
novels and often finds himself lost in the fantasy world.
Jian Sheng hasn’t had any chance to return home since he arrived in Singapore and he misses food from his hometown. When the craving kicks in, he makes his way down to a Chinese restaurant in Chinatown. Lucky for him, the restaurant has on its menu dishes that resemble food from his hometown. For now, Jian Sheng
hopes he is able to save enough so that he is able to return to his hometown, buy a piece of land and start his own farm.
Jian Sheng received his lucky draw prize from Andre, our Executive Director at 2017's staff party
