The
Oktoberfest celebrations in Munich has been cancelled and so has the biggest
one in Singapore at the Swiss Club. Fret not, you can still enjoy it under your
roof with these tips!!
Oktoberfest,
a celebration of beer (and meat for us)! Originated from Munich since 1810, now
is a worldwide phenomenon of get-togethers celebrating Bavarian culture with
flowing pints of beer and great music!
1.
Setting Up
Set a long table with a blue and white tablecloth and/or blue and white
flowers set in beer steins as centerpieces.
2.
What to Wear
Bring on the celebrative mood with the right outfit!
For men, put on the lederhosen over your white shirt.
For ladies, wear a dirndl with a long skirt ending just below your
knees, called a midi. Whatever you do, make sure the dirndl knot is tied at the
correct position as it conveys different messages!
If it's too much of a bother, simply get these interesting tees online!

3.
What to Drink (Very important)
German beer of course! Get your traditional and authentic German lagers
from our selection: Grevensteiner, Schneider Wessie, Weihenstephaner,
Franziskaner, Paulaner
4.
What to Eat (Equally important)
The hot favourites available at Huber’s Butchery for this festival are:
Sausages include weisswurst, nuernberger, Kasekreiner (cheese sausage),
bockwurst (smoked beef and pork with cumin) and our Wienerli or frankfurter
make a good supper or hangover meal!
Other favourites: Crispy pork knuckle, pretzels, meatloaf, roast
chicken, emmentaler cheese, beef for sauerbraten, beef for goulash soup,
sauerkraut.
5.
What to Do
Start with the “Ein Prosit der Gemütlichkeit” by Bernhard Dietrich,
largely considered to be the anthem of Oktoberfest, which means “I Salute To
Our Cozy Friendship & Good Times We’re Having Together” in German.
Or simply play international hits like “YMCA”, “Mamma Mia”, “Country
Roads”, “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” on Spotify!
Having enjoyed so much great food, time to get up and dance to the tune
with linking arms and swinging beer mugs from side to side. Prost!
