Les Bouchons - 1st Dec 2015
“Steak Frites, honest and done well.”
It was team lunch at Robertson Quay on a Tuesday afternoon, and of course, we needed to eat more meat! Not that we were complaining as we are true blue carnivores.
Greeting us with warm bread and butter, starters were served shortly after our order was taken. We got two starters to share: the Charcuterie Platter that was a generous portion of French salami, parma ham and rillettes accompanied by cornichons and fresh cherry tomatoes, and Terrine Maison with Pork & Chicken Liver that was good and not mushy at all, it even made us request for more bread!

Just as our empty starter plates were cleared away, a choice of 5 different condiments arrived as we waited for the steaks to arrive.

We ordered a different cut each. All the steaks, without a doubt were perfectly done. The Grilled Ribeye was very flavourful and topped with herb butter, making it even more decadent. Sirloin steak was given a slightly different treatment, it was herb-crusted and this added good flavour to the lean sirloin. Of course, each steak was accompanied with copious amounts of Homemade Frites and a well-dressed salad on the side (did I mention they are free-flow too?).

Just as we were about done with lunch, the couple on the table next to us ordered the Cote De Boeuf, served on a wooden platter, sliced into manageable portions with the bone for nibbling on after. That would definitely be a must-try when we are back for more.
Les Bonchons has been around for over 12 years and I can see why based on the well cooked steaks at a reasonable price. I’d strictly recommend reservations to be made for dinner as they are always full.
