LOVE OUR EARTH 🌏

Greetings!

Earth Day is happening this month and it is becoming increasingly important that we each do our part to save and repair this planet.

Did you know?

Food waste is one of the biggest waste streams in Singapore and the amount of food waste generated in 2020 was 665 million kg, equivalent to the weight of 46,000 double-decker buses! That is also equivalent to feeding a bowl and a half of rice to every person in Singapore everyday, for a year!

We can do our part in reducing food waste by being educated on how long our produce can last chilled and frozen, how to store our produce properly, thereby lowering the times that our produce goes bad.

Check out our Meathesaurus Section to learn how to handle and store your meats appropriately and more! Our butchers down at Dempsey will also be more than happy to assist you with your enquiries and needs.

We will be renovating our Dempsey store over the next months to refresh some parts but largely to increase our company’s sustainability efforts. We will share more information on this as we go along.

Excite Your Appetite!

🌏Small changes but with collated efforts we can create an impact and make it a better world for everyone to live in🌏

A good reason to add more greens to your diet

Do drop by our fresh produce corner to pick up some beautiful air-flown vegetables and fruits from Australia and Europe. Think Kale, the hearty green superstar to add to your morning smoothie, roasting a side dish of brussel sprouts and rutabaga in the oven, grating cauliflower into rice, or adding colourful chopped rainbow chard to your salad. They are high in vitamins A, C and K, and provide a great source of calcium, iron and magnesium. Always aim to put more colours on your plate! 🌈

Choose to eat free-range produce with no added hormones & antibiotics

A couple of brands that we bring in, practice ethical treatment for their animals and/or practice environmental sustainability. Brands such as First Light, Stockyard, AOM(Australian Organic Meats), Greenham Tasmanian Beef, Berkwood Farms Kurobuta and Thomas Farms. For those who love bacon and ham, we specially made them using free-range pork from

St Bernards.

And not forgetting, Barossa’s happy hens roam freely daily, and produce large eggs with yolks that are orange, thick and full of flavour.

Bring your own grocery bag

Singapore uses a whopping 2 million plastic bags in just a day! In order to reduce carbon footprint, for 8 years, Huber’s has been using degradable bags that will start to degrade in 18 months.

However, we can take it a notch further if our customers can help reduce this plastic waste by bringing your own grocery bag. Alternatively, you can just purchase one of our reusable chiller bags that can keep your produce fresh for the next 2 hours till you get home safely.

GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY

At Huber's, we are taking steps in spreading awareness on social initiatives geared towards the greater good.

And part of it is to give a helping hand to underprivileged children to grow and develop within a safe and nurturing environment. As such, we are glad to share that this is our 9th year running in support of Singapore Children’s Society in their annual fund-raising event.

Nelson Mandela has this quote “Children are our greatest treasure. They are our future.” And we couldn’t agree any further.

If you would like to do your part for children and families in need, do visit https://www.childrensociety.org.sg/donation .

Every little help counts to give them a better place to live in!
