Aged for over 60 hours and churned to perfection, it delivers a smooth, tangy depth that’s truly one of the richest tasting butters on the market. Experience the 4-day culturing and ageing process that gives this butter its rich, creamy flavour. A simple yet impressive dessert you can easily make at home for Valentine’s Day is Chocolate Lava Cake. It’s decadent, rich, and perfect for a romantic occasion. Plus, it only requires a few ingredients and minimal prep time!

 

Ingredients:

  • 115g semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 115g unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • Pinch of salt
  • Powdered sugar or cocoa powder (for dusting)
  • For serving: Top with your choice of ice cream, whipped cream, or fresh fruits

 

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 220°C. Grease 4 small ramekins (6oz) with butter and dust with flour.
  2. Melt the chocolate and butter in a double boiler over simmering water, stirring frequently until smooth, about 5 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, yolks, sugar, and vanilla until slightly thickened. Stir in melted chocolate, then gently fold in flour and salt until combined.
  4. Divide batter evenly into ramekins and bake for 12-14 minutes until edges are firm but the centre is soft with a slight jiggle.
  5. Remove from the oven and let the cakes rest for 1 minute. Carefully run a knife around the edges and invert each onto a plate.
  6. Sprinkle with powdered sugar or cocoa powder, then serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, and fresh fruit of your choice on the side.
