Uber Huber Issue 206

Funny how quickly time passes, it feels like we were just welcoming the new year and somehow we’re almost halfway through 2026. June brings plenty of comforting flavours, good pairings, and a few delicious new arrivals to the table.

We’re starting things off with Huber’s Pasta Sauces, inspired by Italy’s National Day on 2nd June and centred around one of the best combinations ever created, pasta and sauce. Alongside our Zaccagni pasta selection, Huber’s homemade pasta sauces, and a few specialty finds, we’ll also be sharing three recipes to show how different pasta shapes pair beautifully with different sauces.

Our featured cut this month is Stockyard’s Wagyu Spider Steak, a richly marbled wagyu with deep flavour and tender bite. We’ve also shared a simple searing guide finished with cultured butter for that rich finishing touch. And yes, you’ll definitely want to click into the video and hear that satisfying sizzle for yourself.

Further down, you’ll find a very special Wine of the Month feature, the Brancaia IL BLU 2015 from Tuscany, alongside newly arrived Bella di Cerignola olives from Italy, known for their beautifully meaty texture and rich flavour.

To round things off, we’re shining the spotlight on our cheese selection, one of the widest in Singapore with close to 300 varieties from 17 countries. We’ll also be featuring our cheese and cold cut platters, where you can mix and match your own cheeses and cold cuts, or build a fully cheese focused platter from a curated range of selections.

As always, thank you for spending a little time with us. We hope this month’s issue leaves you inspired for your next gathering, meal, or perhaps just a very good pasta night.

Huber's Pasta Sauces

In celebration of Italy’s National Day, we are bringing together thoughtfully paired pasta and sauces inspired by authentic Italian flavours and traditions. A good pasta dish starts with more than just the sauce. The shape, texture, and quality of the pasta all play a part in creating the perfect balance in every bite.At Huber’s, our homemade pasta sauce range is crafted using fresh premium ingredients, with recipes carefully curated by our GM, Mr Thomas Kreissl.

From slow cooked classics to lighter favourites, each sauce is made to pair beautifully with different pasta shapes. To complete the experience, we’re pairing them with Zaccagni pastas, thoughtfully selected to bring out the best flavours and textures in every dish. Just below, we’ll be sharing two simple recipe pairings that show how the right pasta and sauce combination can make all the difference.

Our first recipe pairing features Huber’s Homemade Bolognese Sauce with Zaccagni Tagliatelle Greche, a combination made for rich, hearty flavours.

Slow simmered with premium hormone free minced beef and rich beef stock, the bolognese delivers a deep, savoury richness that feels comforting and full of flavour.

With its wide ribbon like shape, Zaccagni Tagliatelle Greche is designed to carry meat based sauces beautifully. Its slightly rough texture helps the bolognese cling evenly to the pasta, allowing every bite to be coated with sauce.

Topped with freshly grated Parmigiano Reggiano and parsley, this classic pairing highlights the beauty of simple Italian cooking.

Our second recipe pairing brings together Huber’s Homemade Basil Pesto Sauce with Zaccagni Trofie, a classic Italian combination full of fresh, vibrant flavour.

Made with aromatic Australian basil and smooth olive oil imported from Italy, the pesto delivers a bright, velvety richness with authentic Mediterranean character.

Traditionally paired with pesto in Italy, Zaccagni Trofie features a twisted spiral shape that captures every bit of the sauce beautifully. The pasta’s texture pairs perfectly with the fragrant basil, nutty Parmigiano Reggiano, and tender shredded chicken, while toasted pine nuts add extra crunch for a well balanced finish.

Beyond our featured pairings, Huber’s homemade pasta sauce range also includes favourites like our Sundried Tomato Pesto and Rocket & Walnut Pesto Sauce, both made with fresh premium ingredients for rich flavour and beautiful aroma.

The Sundried Tomato Pesto delivers a bold Mediterranean inspired richness with naturally sweet dried tomatoes, parmesan, pine nuts, garlic, basil, and herbs, while the Rocket & Walnut Pesto combines fresh rocket leaves and earthy walnuts for a nutty, peppery finish with a lovely touch of freshness.

Both sauces pair beautifully with pasta for a satisfying meal at home, simply toss through your favourite pasta and finish with freshly grated parmesan for an Italian inspired dish in minutes.

A Taste of Passion Pasta

For those looking to explore even more flavours beyond our homemade range, the Passion Pasta sauce collection brings a comforting homemade style experience that is hearty and incredibly easy to enjoy at home.

Made using 100% natural ingredients with no added sugar or vinegar, these gluten-free sauces are freshly prepared and slow simmered to bring out deep, well balanced flavours in every jar. Using only the finest ingredients, each sauce delivers the kind of richness that pairs beautifully with a wide variety of pasta shapes. Flavours include Chilli Sauce, Creamy Tomato & Pesto, Roasted Pumpkin & Basil and more.

Quick to prepare and ready in minutes, the Passion Pasta range makes it easy to put together a satisfying pasta dish without compromising on flavour. Just below, we’ll also be sharing a pasta pairing recipe featuring the Passion Pasta Chilli Sauce alongside Zaccagni pasta.

The ridges and hollow centre of Zaccagni Mezze Penne Rigate are perfect for holding onto the rich and spicy flavours of the Passion Pasta Chilli Sauce.

Paired with savoury chorizo and finished with chilli flakes and freshly grated Parmigiano Reggiano, this comforting pasta dish delivers bold flavour in every bite with just the right amount of heat.

Simple, hearty and full of flavour, it makes an easy yet satisfying meal for any day of the week.

The Pasta Essentials from Vulcano

Since we’re already talking pasta, it only feels right to bring in two more Italian favourites from the Vulcano range, Guanciale and Pancetta, both known for adding rich savoury flavour to classic pasta dishes.

The Vulcano Guanciale is mildly salted and air-dried, with a rich savoury flavour and delicate nutty finish. Made from pork jowl, it is the traditional choice for classic Italian dishes like carbonara, amatriciana, and gricia, adding deep flavour as the fat slowly renders in the pan. Meanwhile, the Vulcano Pancetta is lightly smoked, air-dried, and beautifully tender with a rich savoury profile that works perfectly tossed through pasta, layered onto fresh bread, or served as part of an antipasto spread.

Your pasta deserves this, shop the Vulcano range in-store at Level 2, Huber’s Butchery.

Meet Italy’s Famous Cerignola Olives

Straight from Cerignola, Puglia, Italy, Bella di Cerignola olives from Azienda Agricola Fratepietro bring over five generations of olive growing heritage to Huber’s Butchery. Known for producing some of the largest table olives in the world, these premium Italian olives are perfect for entertaining, antipasto platters or simple everyday snacking.

The Black Cerignola Olives offer a rich, soft and buttery texture with deeper savoury notes, pairing beautifully with cheeses, cured meats and full bodied red wines. For something more versatile, the Mixed Olives are slow cured in natural brine for a clean and balanced flavour that works well in salads, grazing boards or aperitifs.

Meat of the Month: Stockyard Wagyu Spider Steak

This month’s feature is one for serious beef lovers. Stockyard’s Wagyu Spider Steak brings together deep flavour and tender bite, making it a standout cut worth discovering. Raised on 100% natural feed that is hormone and antibiotics free, this premium wagyu comes from cattle with Japanese wagyu genetics and is grain-fed for over 400 days to achieve its exceptional quality.

Simply exceptional beef, the spider steak delivers a rich, tender texture with sweet, nutty, and buttery flavours that shine beautifully when lightly seared. Pick yours up in-store, or let your next steak night begin online.

Wagyu Spider Steak Done Simple

We’re keeping things beautifully simple with a quick sear of our Meat of the Month, Stockyard’s Wagyu Spider Steak. No heavy seasoning, no complicated steps, just high quality ingredients brought together properly in the pan.

As the wagyu develops its rich golden crust, we finish it with Estate Dairy cultured butter, slowly melting over the beef for an extra layer of richness and depth. Crafted from double cream and naturally fermented over 60 hours using a bespoke lactobacillus culture, the butter adds a smooth, slightly tangy finish that works effortlessly with the marbling of the steak.

It’s rich, indulgent, and incredibly satisfying to watch. Click into the video, hear that unmistakable sizzle, and see how a few good ingredients can speak for themselves.

Premium ingredients, treated with intention. Available at Huber’s Butchery.

Wine Of The Month: Brancaia IL BLU 2015

From the rolling hills of Tuscany, this month’s feature is something rather special. Brancaia IL Blu 2015 is not your everyday bottle, it’s a limited release drawn directly from the estate’s private cellar, where it has been carefully preserved over time.

First introduced in 1988, IL Blu has always been about precision and patience. This 2015 vintage continues that pursuit, crafted from handpicked grapes across two vineyards in the Chianti region. Each bottle has been individually checked, then resealed by hand with wax and a dedicated stamp, presented in an exclusive gift box, a proper collector’s piece.

An elegant blend of 70% Merlot, 25% Sangiovese and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, it opens with aromas of flowers, berries and a touch of liquorice. On the palate, expect a full body with ultra fine tannins, leading into a smooth, focused finish that lingers just enough.
