Quirky mustards! - 1st Jun 2013
When it comes to mustard, you are spoilt for choice. Now check out these quirky ones:
Black Gold
This interesting mixture was born of a rather unusual creation with charcoal! Based on a reduction of apple juice, yellow mustard flour, white balsamic vinegar, grapeseed oil, sugar and charcoal, this is great with all sorts of cheeses, but also with fish or desserts.
Gipsy Mustard
A risky combination? Paprika, garlic and "Gruener Veltiner" ( a tradtional Austrian white wine) make this a perfect condiment for any cold platters, stir-fries or simply reduce with some cream to make a sauce for fondue or as a dip for your grilled meats.
Fig Mustard with Honey
With figs making up 51% percent of the mustard, you almost could call it "jam" instead. Combined with the best honey, 10 year old balsamic vinegar and black mustard seed make this a flavourfull experience. It goes well with any blue cheese and on a lamb rack.
Chilli Mustard
Only for those who can take it! Made from Bhut or Naga Jolokja Chilis with a bit of kurkuma spice. Do keep it away from children though.
Mustard with Horseradish
The taste of fresh horseradish makes this mustard almost compulsory for frankfurters. Great with beef too!
Sweet Mustard
Enjoy with Weisswurst or with other grilled sausages. Goes well with eggs and cheese. It also makes an excellent marinate for meat.
Available in 190g jars.
