Jocelyn Monterde - 1st Dec 2016
Jocelyn, our Purchasing Coordinator, came to Singapore alone from the Philippines in 2008. Her first job in Singapore was as a Purchaser in a firm dealing with plastic moulding injections. Three years into the job and she responded to a recruitment advertisement put up by Huber’s. Joining Huber’s in Dec 2011, Jocelyn has been with us for a good 5 years.
When Jocelyn joined us, she was single and her then-boyfriend-now-husband was working in the Philippines. For 6 years, she tried to convince him to join her in Singapore, but he was reluctant. When they wedded in 2012, Jocelyn continued to persuade him to join her in Singapore. Finally, in 2014, he gave in and flew to Singapore to be with her.
Jocelyn now lives in the western part of Singapore with her husband. Their daughter, who is coming to 2, lives in the Philippines and is cared for by Jocelyn's grandmother and sister-in-law. As she lives apart from her only daughter, she tries to call home every day after work. She rather spends her weekends at home, skyping with her daughter, instead of heading out.
As a Purchasing Coordinator at Huber’s, she has to forecast demand for almost everything we have in our portfolio. From the forecast, she then places orders for all the meat items sold in the retail store and in the wholesale sector. Raw materials required for the making of meat products, and some dry items you see in the shop are also forecasted and ordered by Jocelyn.
Her favourite food is pasta in tomato-base sauce. She used to do the cooking when she was alone in Singapore. Now that her husband is with her in Singapore, she has gladly relinquished that responsibility to her husband! These days, her husband cooks almost every day and Jocelyn has started requesting that her husband learns how to make a good pasta!
