Steve, Yong Teck - 28th Feb 2018
Steve decided to move out from his hometown, Kluang, Johor
to Singapore 10 years ago, in search for better job opportunities. Without much
experience in the F&B industry, he started off as a waiter and worked his
way up to a chef in a Western restaurant. In 2014, he joined Huber’s wholesale division
as a butcher.

Now, a butcher supervisor, Steve works night shift from 10pm
to 9am. He makes sure all items prepared by the production department are
packed nicely for delivery. Besides packing, Steve will help the
other butchers to prepare and cut the meats. You can say that he is an
all-rounder! Steve prefers to work night shift as he thinks that it is more
challenging and fun. He said the only downside of working night shift is it’s
harder for him to look for a girlfriend.

Steve returns home to Kluang twice a month to visit his parents
and his siblings, 3 brothers and a sister. They will gather around for a meal
or two over the weekend. Steve likes his life here in Singapore and plans to
stay for long, but he said it still depends on his future partner (whom he is
still searching) of where she wants to settle their life together.
Steve’s hobby is playing basketball with his friends. He
also likes to read on business books that focus on current economic issues and
financial investment. Although he can
cook Western food very well, Steve said that his tastebuds are still pretty Asian.
Once in a while, he will explore different hawker centres or smaller
restaurants to try the different Asian cuisines like Thai, Chinese and Vietnamese.
