Kolios Feta has been around since 1948 and has won numerous
quality awards. It is one of the most famous and popular brands of cheese in
Greece, bearing the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) mark guaranteeing its
authenticity. PDO refers to cheeses derived from a certain area and their
quality is related to the specific environment of origin. They are produced,
processed and prepared in a given geographical area, from a given kind of milk,
using recognised know-how. For instance, in the European Union, only cheese
made in Greece and with content of at least 70% sheep’s milk with any remainder
made up of goat’s milk, may be labelled “feta”.
This tangy, creamy and salted cheese is extremely versatile
for various recipes such as salads, pies, traybakes, pasta, sandwiches and many
