Ng Kok Boon - 8th Nov 2021
Ng Kok Boon, a senior packer with Huber’s for more than 3 years, is well-known for his good-natured and humorous personality among his fellow colleagues; bringing joy to most! When it comes to work, he can be very serious and focused; complimented as being fast and making very few mistakes by his superiors.
1. Can you share a little about yourself?
My hometown is in Johor Bahru and I used to commute to work through the Causeway via my trusted motorbike. However, with the ongoing pandemic, I have to stay put in Singapore.
2. What do you miss most about your hometown?
I missed my parents and siblings and could only visit them once since the pandemic started. Besides granting my leave to go back home, I am glad that the company fully paid for my trip which includes all the expenses involved in Covid-19 tests and quarantine facilities.
3. Do you have any special/memorable encounters working at Huber’s?
Myself, along with the few of our colleagues whose accommodations are affected by the pandemic, we are most grateful to our bosses and company for taking good care of us. Around 20 of us are being housed in a condominium, 2 to a room, near our workplace that comes complete with basic appliances. Not only are we able to keep our jobs, we have a good place to stay in without worrying about rental.
4. How do you spend your leisure time?
Staying so close to my colleagues, I spend most of time going out with them for meals, cycling and outings. And we are making full use of the condominium’s amenities like the swimming pool and gym to keep ourselves fit.
5. Share the one product from Huber’s that you will definitely recommend to your family and friends. And why?
Having tried our Wagyu beef striploin at Huber’s Bistro, I immediately fell in love with it and will highly recommend our wagyu beef to everyone!
6. Share with us the food you loved most.
If I can go back JB, I will definitely dig into my favourite chilli crab and wanton mee. Compared to the dishes here, I would still prefer those that are prepared back home with the unforgettable aroma and taste.
7. Year 2021 is coming to an end soon, is there one thing that you have done that you are extremely proud of?
Earning enough to get a car for my family back in JB is the proudest achievement I made this year! And my next target is to get a bigger house for my parents so that they can stay comfortably and able to invite relatives and friends over for visits.
